Brett,

The site (ie, loading the forums) has been very very slow for the past couple of days. I refreshed my cookies, emptied my browser cache, and tried all the tricks that have worked in the past... but it's slow as molasses.

Maybe, I thought, I'd forgotten to reset the pulldown selector that I remembered at the right bottom of the page that allowed me to choose how many previous days of messages I was displaying... and I can't find it. If I'm loading everything, that might explain it. I'd had my preferences set to a low day count... maybe 7 or 15 I forget.

Has there been a change, or is this a glitch?

I bet it is this:
[webmasterworld.com...]

short story - go to your preferences and reduce the number of threads displayed on index pages.

The max threads option is already set to the minimum, which is 20. I notice that the problem is worst on the forums that don't have many postings but display a wide date range... indicating that something involved with the date range is also slowing the system down.

In general right now, the board is close to unusable for me.
