Refer to the discussion "Professional Forum Spammers" at [webmasterworld.com...]
Wow! 150 something posts - took me 2 hours to go through everything.

The URL drop problem can be solved by making some changes in the code. The bulletin board software should be modified such that all references to www.mysite.com are automatically deleted. The code should detect www following by the dot and immediately get rid of it.

I don't know how it is done but I have seen it work at another website.

The code should also get rid of all references to -
http://
_____.com (the underline represents some alphabets followed by .com)
_____@____.com (prevents dropping of email IDs)

As I have mentioned before, I don't know how its done but I know it can be done.

However, implementing this could lead to a whole lot of other problems - for example, you won't be able to drop a link to other webmasterworld forums. But I'm sure something can be done about it.

SUGGESTION NUMBER 2: (This has nothing to do with suggestion number 1)

On my PC, I have set "View Last 15 days" posts. If I want to check older posts, I will have to change it to "View Last 30 days".

Isn't it better to have [1] [2] [3]...[30] linking to older posts?
Changing "View" dropdown list is inconvenient. If I select "View last 30 days" option, it will take years to load the "google news" forum.

My concern with suggest #1 is that it would eliminate any links to outside content that may be relevent/necessary to a discussion (i.e., articles, policy statements, etc). I just can't imagine how you would write code that could tell the difference between good links and bad.
