Are we going to wear them?

I'm thinking of wearing a name badge with my username and real name on it. Is anyone else planning on doing this? After all, it would be nice to put faces to names (and real names to usernames).

Chris.

Mivox has us covered! Name tags at the door! (she was also nice enough to do them for the Irvine conference too)

DEFINITELY have to have badges. Also, bring plenty business cards.

>real names

Once it gets into full swing conversation seems to lean towards using the nicks. In fact, plan on a few minutes of an odd sort of disorientation while you have to match the faces and real names with the nicks you know so well.

Some will not have their real name on the badge, it's up to each attendee. The cloakers tend to have real name and nick but not everybody can see the real name.

"The cloakers tend to have real name and nick but not everybody can see the real name."

Will the affiliate guys and gals have other peoples names but try to pass them off as their own? :)

>pass them off as their own?

No, but 100 bucks says the affiliate names will be ranked higher than the standard ecom names. ;-)

The affiliate guys have a paragraph or two of heartfelt, though slightly promotional, text describing their nick.

heheeh she made everyones badges all sexy, but be advised if your name has a space in it "little rex" heheh she writes it little_rex on the badge. she has a tendency of writing spaces as _ ;) maybe thats only when you dont preregister (: j/k

Hehehe... I type 'em like I see 'em for pre-registrations. If I have to handwrite them in a darkened bar with a marker at the last minute, you're at my mercy.

If I'd known I was going to have to wear a badge I would have chosen a nifty nick like 'Northern Avenger' or 'Handsome Devil'

As it is, and as I wear glasses, I guess I'll go with the nick.

(you'd probably all call me that anyway, sniffle, sniffle.......)

LOL... It would get awfully confusing trying to figure out which "four eyes" was which in this crowd. hehehe. Lot's of "optically challenged" individuals at BarCon. I'd imagine PubCon would be much the same.

Hehe, I'm seriously considering bringing a white stick to save explaining why I can't see anything but the bright lights of the bar!

For me Optically chanllenged would be an upgrade ;)

I don't cloak, but I am fortunate enough to know the best cloaker around. You will not be able to see me at all.

as a confirmed internationalist and specialist in multilingual sites, do I have to decide which language my name is in by content negotiation?

Be sure to put your post count on your name badge with a pencil.
After each conversation with someone take out your eraser and raise your count. ;)

Perhaps we should go standards?

Have a generic name badge and seperate card telling people how it should be styled and displayed ;)

There are rumours, unconfirmed at this stage, that a dogboy badge may be needed!
