Hi everyone, I've been reading the forums for quite some time now gathering knowledge but only recently have I actually become a full fledged webmaster and started running adsense on a site that a friend and I built together this week. It is my first time using any form of advertising on a website.

Our site is focused on a pretty niche group of people and within 24 hours of launching it yesterday evening we've got about almost 3000 page views and JUST hit double digits in earnings. I think we're doing pretty well for one day but I think we can do much better as our site will grow. What are you guys' impressions on usual first days/weeks? It seems the ads are not all that pertinent to the subject our page is based on though it seems to be getting better and better every hour. Also, another quick question I had was regarding forums. People spend mass amounts of time on forums as they go from page to page loading a page each time. How well do adsense work on forums and such in terms of mass impressions but few clicks (i would assume?)?

Btw, our site is not an MFA - its focused on a certain sport my buddy is especially passionate about.

Anyways, other than that, thought I'd introduce myself. All of your discussions have greatly enriched my webmaster experience the last couple weeks in research and the general helping/generous attitude everyone here seems to carry is something to be applauded. Thank you!

Austin

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Austin.

Wow, I hope those pageviews were by people, that's pretty impressive!

i hit over 500,000+ page views daily.. keep up the good work though... once you reach my level your in big money (if smartpricing doesn't knock you down too hard like it does to me)

Remember respect is everything, a low CTR is a good example of keeping your site clean for your visitors.. and keeps them browsing your site.

I am assuming your "client" base, therefore try to ensure all your clicks are not coming from one IP address at your location otherwise you may encounter assumed fraudulent click problems with G.

I'm not too sure how G deals with this kind of localised, fan-based scenario, therefore if you are getting, or going to be getting, a lot of visitors from your "location", then it may be worth asking before an "I've been banned" thread arises.

Better to be safe and sure.

If the pageviews are via people then its good.

The CTR would likely increase a bit as the adverts become more relevant to the content.

I am not sure how google treat localised traffic either - always best to speak directly to them if it is localised traffic.

I'd have to agree about asking about it, since it might be a sudden burst of "fan traffic" with nothing done to encourage clicks and could be temporary.

This is good advice, Austin, and something you may want to check into.

Also, welcome to WW!

Hey thanks a lot guys!

Our viewers actually arent local, they are just a very small niche. But thanks for the info and the warm welcome! Hopefully in time I can contribute as much to this forum as you all have.

Another quick question, so if i strategically place keywords that our site pertains to all over our text would this help us get more pertinent ads our viewers would be more inclined to click on? Is there some surefire way? Obviously we will focus on content but while we're creating content I'd like to make sure it is optimized to help us get the most clicks!

Thanks

Austin
