Malcolm Gladwell and WebmasterWorld Raise Money for Charity

AUSTIN, Texas - June, 2006 - WebmasterWorld announced that with the help of author Malcolm Gladwell, it raised $3,000 for Katrina Relief efforts at its recent Search and Internet Marketing Conference, PubCon, in Boston.

Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point and Blink, was the keynote speaker at the Conference. After his keynote address, Gladwell conducted a book signing for PubCon conference attendees. In lieu of purchasing Gladwell's books for the signing, attendees were encouraged to donate money to Katrina Relief efforts.

Reflecting on how Katrina Relief was chosen as the charity of choice, Brett Tabke, CEO of WebmasterWorld said, "We held a conference last June in New Orleans and we were impressed with how friendly and welcoming the people of New Orleans were to us and to our attendees." Tabke continued, "We found the city such a vibrant, exciting place and were truly saddened by the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina."

Monies raised by Malcolm Gladwell's book signing at WebmasterWorld's Search and Internet Conference were donated to the Red Cross and earmarked for Katrina Relief. "We are very pleased with the response that Gladwell's book signing had from our conference attendees," said Tabke. "Several of those who donated were at our New Orleans conference and took the time to tell us how pleased they were that they could give back to that great city."

That's cool. There is still a lot of work to be done there as well. I would encourage anybody that gets the opportunity to volunteer in any relief effort to do so.
