Thanks.

Forum Community Building
[webmasterworld.com...]

Since Blogs can be classified as Communities, I think you'll find the above forum "buzzing" with blog topics.

No pun intended. ;)

I did a site search and it appears that they are all over the place. I would think Communities would be the best place for them although I see quite a few in SEP and Google AdSense.

While some may pretend, ostrich-like, that blogs are just websites, they have their own issues that would benefit being discussed by others playing the same game.

If it's not obvious where such people should post, then ease of navigation has been compromised.

P1R, I know the reluctance doesn't come from you. If we can have SE forums for european SE's AND for UK & Irish SE's (Hmmm, where are they?) it seems more reasonable to have a forum for blog issues.

The simple fact that so many keep asking for it shows there's an unmet need. Brett out to dig out the "26 Steps..." and review the one on working the data.

Adding a blog forum would be less work than all this trying to explain where to go and why it doesn't exist.

Sorry, I don't see a blog as being that similar to a "community" just because it has a comments section .. not a great deal different than a guest book on a "standard" website.

WW definitely needs a blog section. Otherwise the confusion continues and people don't know where to post. I tried "Webmaster General" as well, but this section is already a catch all.

Brett need to take a break from counting his $$$$$$$$$$ and set up a place for wannabe bloggers.;)

>Is there a reason why we don't have a Blog Forum?

Four characters: S.P.A.M.

It would take an entire team of mods to moderate a blog forum. We don't take advertising here and the only means of site income is via the subscription model. Obviously, that barely covers the costs of running the site - so hiring moderators is out of the question. Ultimatly, I think a blog section would just leave sour feelings with alot of people that we would be required to edit. The actuall number of posts related to blogs currently in the forums over the years is pretty small. We generally have a threashold around 100 existing threads on a subject to make it a reality.

Trip down memory lane

circa 2003 Request for Blogging forum [webmasterworld.com]

circa 2004 Request for Blogging forum [webmasterworld.com]

circa 2005 Request for Blogging forum [webmasterworld.com]

circa 2006 Request for Blogging forum [webmasterworld.com]

I totally get the spam concern, and I realize also that if you do open one taking it away if it got out of hand would be very, very difficult, and unpleasant to say the least. Why not make it pre-moderated like Google News. WebmasterWorld is a great resource for everything else related to running and marketing your website, and building a web based business. By ignoring blogs you're leaving a vacuum and nature abhors a vacuum.

Pre-Moderation is still Moderation for the forum, which BT says it would take a team.

It wouldn't be in the initial thread starter, it would be down in the discussion.
