Set "Open Links New Window" to No. :)
This is really terrible behavior. Best to drop it entirely, or failing that at least change it to observe the preference set by the user. The last thing I need is more windows (in a tabbed browser).
It only does that if you specify it in the control panel preferences. ;)Maybe that's true now, but either this behaviour is new, or my preferences were reset without me being involved..
Hmm, well I didn't know about this setting, and certainly hadn't changed it either. Maybe the WW server got hit by a little cosmic radiation and a few bits got flipped?
Anyway, changed the setting and the previous behavior is restored.
Thanks for the feedback.
zCat, please fill out a Bug report [webmasterworld.com] so it gets flagged to Brett's attention. That way he can have more details from you.
Thanks.
Very frustrating.
Bug report submitted.

<edit>Found another setting - "Active Posts Preference" or some such thing. Got it fixed now. Someone must have reset these settings in the past day or two, since it wasn't me!</edit>
Added.
I just made the change and now all is back to normal. I first started having problems when the OP members names were added to the subject lines. Anyway got rid of them and all is well. Phew....
I hadn't edited my system preferences for about a year or more. The setting for "Open Links in New Window" was set to No. (I didn't know there was such a setting)
I expected that this setting would apply to links within posts. And, after testing what happens when I switch this back and forth:
- Links from Active Post List page still open in a new window.
- Links within posts to other sites open according to this setting.
