POINTERS
Problem: Sub-forums' "red dots" inconsistent
Details: For the last couple of days I've noticed that the red dot "new" pointers to the left of individual Forum's "Sub-Message Boards" have been coming and going independent of my resetting topic, sub-forum, forum, and all-forum pointers
For example, "The Webmaster World" is busy forum, ditto its "Content, Writing and Copyright" sub-board. But upon visiting that forum after a few days, the CWC showed no red dot. Surprised, I clicked it open and found loads of red dotted new or newly replied-to messages. Similarly, last week "The Search Engine World" forum's "robots.txt" sub-board didn't have a red dot despite having red-dotted messages inside.
(If that makes sense, so will this: I've only seen no-dots with messages, not dots without messages.)
I've tried logging out and in to WW, resetting everything, emptying my cache, quitting and restarting my browser, etc., all to no avail.
REPLY MAIL
Problem: Notification of replies to posts AWOL
Details: The last time I received a "Reply Post Notification" was some weeks back, despite having posted replied-to posts/replies since then, and always checking the "Do you want an email notification of replies?" box. This problem was talked about here [webmasterworld.com] but apparently that thread's closed now (?; no reply link) so I'm just mentioning that it's still a problem, at least for me.
The no-reply result is the same whether I Preview a post/reply or Submit the first time.
As a workaround, I've started checking for replies to threads via the Control Panel where, by the way, the red dots appear to be A-OK.
NEW POST MAIL
Problem: Notification of new discussions AWOL
Details: Sorry but I can't remember how long it's been since I received a "New Discussion Notification" re the three forum sub-boards I've selected -- possibly two weeks to a month or more? So I got in the habit of 'checking the red dots.' But now that those are inconsistent, ditto reply notification e-mails, visiting the site is noticeably less efficient and less enjoyable, alas.
Still A-OK: "[Local Email] E-Mail Notification" and Sticky forwards, etc.
Here's hoping the above info helps!

Control Panel > Your Active Threads
Go there and you'll see which of your posts/threads have replies, plus you'll be able to access those posts' forums, all in one swell foop. The only inconvenient part is that you're on your own when it comes to remembering to check back:)
I don't know how admins keep up with their personal volumes of posts, particularly if they post a lot across a number of forums. But if you're like me and you post a few times here and there, an "Active Threads" bookmark is a genuine time-saver.
George Costanza? Who he?

Duckman [en.wikipedia.org]
What he originally said was, "I'm Back Baby!"
"For some reason, I am not receiving email notification of replies. I checked my email to be sure it works, and it does. Is there anything simple I am missing that I am supposed to do? (I have been clicking on "Do you want an email notification of replies?" at the bottom of each post.)"
Any ideas?
(Here's hoping you'll get e-notification of this reply and discover that the programming snafu fixes work for you, too:)
