I have the impression that I am seeing the same names coming up over and over again. So I am wandering how big the percentage of users with more than 500 (or maybe 1000) posts is. I think that the post count might be some sort of inverted gaussian curve, with lots of users with a post count <10 and lots of users with a postcount >1000.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that quantity equals quality, I was just wondering why I see a handful of people all the time.

Another reason you might see the same people is because they inhabit the same forums as you. Many members only post in their own forums and rarely venture anywhere else.

Also, some of the people I know who are extreamly smart are mostly lurkers and rarely post. Some people like me get periods of time when the can post, and periods of time when they can't post. Also, some people have no other life :)

What's the use of posting a lot of meaningless or off - topic replies and topics?! Quality is a priority criterion indeed.

Well then maybe we need a voting system on posts to get a quality rating as well.
