Changing Reset Last Read Pointers? on the WebmasterWorld.com/index page to align=right continues to make me look foolish (to myself) as I am still clicking on the left and the little red discs just stand around laughing.

Us old guys are creatures of habit. How about a years advance warning followed by a large garish 'control link' moved notice for a further six months in future?

iamlost,

It was done as an usability excercise, On all other forums it's on the right, and some of us even older oldies kept clicking on it by accident when it was on the left, the eyesight may be failing, poor things!

The complaints committee had to weigh up whether the loss in use of these balls was a hazard according to standards, and indeed upheld the motion to give it a go on the right!

At this time they perhaps feel they can't put up a sign as this might confuse the injured parties even further by giving them something else to bang into ;)

I am surprised it took 28 hours for someone to mention it ;)

I kept silent for a day (I immediately understood the reason for the change) but after still clicking on nothing today just wanted to announce my addiction to habitual repetitive behaviour.

Usability is what iamlost is used too :-)

I am glad to see it move. Occasionally, I would slip and tap the "Forums Index" spot twice. If the pages loaded fast, the second cick would hit the reset and would reset the pointers. I never complained about it, because it was my own butter fingers and it's not a big deal if the pointers got reset, but more than once I made faces at the screen because of it.
