Forum Moderators: open
maybe i am just having a bad day, however one more thread in the adsense forum called "my earnings are up" or "my earnings are down", "payment received" "no payment received" and i am going to pass out...
...and it is getting worse, now the YPN people starting the same and soon MSN opens their programm, well you get the idea.
´
How will the "recent posts page" look then?
Probably every second thread will be called "earnings are up [insert programm], or down [insert programm]....
ok i am finished ranting.... :)
cheers

Yah, that's why poor Jenstar now has two fabulous co-mods: Mack [webmasterworld.com] and Martinibuster [webmasterworld.com].
We could take the forum into pre-mod?
It needs some action, at present maybe 10% of the stuff is worth looking at.
Personally I find there is so much garbage that it is not worth even trying :(
I guess it depends on what your objectives are with that particular forum.
Maybe you could have a second AdSense forum that was pre-mod and where one could post weightier AdSense topics. Mods could down-grade submissions to this one back to the open one if they thought the submission did not warrent the "advanced" forum.
as someone suggested above, is there any way to block the Adsense Forum (in the current form) from the recent post list?
cheers

That forum is no where near busy enough to justify pre-moderation.
It's still early today, but [on the Adsense Forum index page] only 24 threads are showing todays date for the latest entry. How long can it take to skim 24 thread titles.
We're talking seconds here folks, not hours or even minutes. If your time is too valuable to spend a few seconds scanning titles, maybe you should hire an assistant to scan them for you.
The beauty of WW is that there is information on all levels available, posted freely by members with a wide variety of skills and knowledge.
What may seem like very basic knowledge to you may be very insightful to the next member.
I'm amazed at the number of times I've seen long time members make comments aknowledging that they didn't know something posted by a much newer member.
Sure premoderation might eliminate some of the very frequent topic duplication, although I have my doubts about that, I think delay it is more likely. After all, there are still plenty of repeditive threads is the currently premoderated Google News section.
But premoderation might also stop many people from posting at all. Or they might post their threads in inappropriate forums, just as we see with the many threads that are really the Google News type that end up elsewhere.
Premoderation carries a price that I think is too high for the Adsense Forum.

My reply above suggests a second premod AdSense forum for weightier topics. And leaving an open forum for the rest.
Depends really if you want to foster serious AdSense discussion - quite honestly at the moment I don't bother posting there as the quality of the discussion is not that high.
The current Adsense forum is the second most posted on WebmasterWorld. Only the Google forum which is pre-moded has more posts (and is a lot older)
or are they equivalent of an ant farm or a fish tank in the mods lounge?
for awhile there they were making even the "I got booted from adsense 'cos me and and all my family clicked my ads ..but it's unfair " seem really erudite ..
ken_b ..I try honestly to pass them by ..but there is something about bridges and constant bleating that triggers my stony genes ..
...why not have an Adsense Front Page Forum, where the mods could put threads that they felt merited it. Works at Threadwatch ;)
That would avoid pre-mod, and would give a valuable forum that the mods could create themselves.
