This being my first time at PubCon [webmasterworld.com], I was wondering, how do folks take notes in the sessions?

Are personal recording devices allowed?

Do people bring their laptops in the sessions? Blackberrys?

Old fashioned pen and pad?

Photographic memory?

Rodney,

I've seen all of the above (well, maybe not BlackBerries, but then, you can't see everything).

Keep in mind that access to electrical outlets is likely to be limited, so make sure you have enough battery power to last through the sessions.

thanks! I just didn't know if it would be considered "rude" to be clickety clicking away at your laptop while the speaker was speakifying :)

I remember someone walking out of a session, all excited, "I had a dozen ideas from that session and ended up buying 43 domain names while WebWork was talking". ;)

I'd not worry too much about clicks and clacks.

What is RUDE though is walking up to someone in a site clinic and going "here's my business card, I can fix your problems" and walking right out.

When I use my laptop at sessions at other conventions, I make a point of sitting at the side in the back. Where I am least like to disturb others.

I guess I better not listen to WebWork talk then. I've already got sort of an addiction to domains :)

I use a small pocket notebook and always condense my notes at the end of the evening ... er morning. I don't use the technology because it's too much of a distraction - both to me and the people around me. Plus you might end up with beer spilled all over your keyboard. Pen & paper is the way to go.

What's the word on wireless internet in the sessions? Will those bringing laptops be able to connect?

In New Orleans a couple of the exhibitors had set up wireless points that were open, but the reception was spotty. I was rather hoping we'd have an "official free wireless sponsor" for this and future pubcons.

I look forward to this expo it should answer a ton of great questions we all have, just like they do every year. I was going to ask a few but it’s already answered. I look forward to hearing more about the even seems how it’s only a few days away. I fly out on Monday night at the Renaissance Hotel.

How else will be out there? Let meet up and have a few beers.
