Long delay when editing a post

It happens on the first edit and is then OK.

Brett,

I've reported this problem several times using the "Report Problem" link, but have gotten no fix, so I thought I'd post about it.

When I edit a post, on the first edit only, there is sometimes a huge delay between clicking "Submit" and getting any action for the server. By huge, I mean anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute or two.

I've tried re-editing a post a second or third time to see if I could reproduce the problem, and the delay only happens on the first edit. This has been happening for several months now, and from what I can tell, it happens on every WebmasterWorld forum.

PS: I'm re-editing this one to test it, and will time it with my stopwatch. The problem doesn't happen on the post... it happens on the Edit Post.

PPS: Well, this one was much better than most. After I clicked submit, the form just hung there for about 18 seconds, and then, once things started happening, redirected to the new thread in about 5 seconds. (This is on a dial-up, btw).

PPPS: Whole cycle on the second edit was about 4 seconds, about 2-sec for the form to be processed and about 2-sec to redirect back to the thread.

Oddly enough - I've had the exact opposite problem.

When I edit my own post it takes (or should I say took) forever.

However, now that WebmasterWorld is on new servers the delay seems to have gone.

You may want to test again and see if your problem has gone too :)

YAY! It's gone! YAY!

Yeah I had to just test it to see for myself. I'm always fixing my own screwups so no one knows how much I really don't know. ;)
