From a local TV station's weather forcaster (I live in Missouri)
"One interesting feature to keep an eye on is a possible tropical system forming in the gulf and heading towards New Orleans."

It's tropical storm Arlene, and it actually looks like it will hit somewhere east of N.O. - probably in the Florida panhandle - this Saturday night. So, not likely to cause problems.
Advance New Orleans forecast for the week of the 20th: Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Plenty of humidity with a chance of thunder Tuesday night and Wednesday.

It looks like that storm will be completely gone by the conference. That doesn't mean that there might be another storm right after it, though.
It's a crazy time of year for storms in the Gulf.
