My condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed greatly.
However, many people would argue that riding in a street car (he wasn't even driving) without proper safety equipment at speeds of 150-165 mph is taking unnecessary risks.
They definitely had both harnesses and headgear on. They crashed into a barrier at 100mph+... not much gear can do at that point. It was also a passenger side impact.

Peace & Love from the UK to wherever you are!
Sorry, but I have to totally disagree. He died doing something he clearly loved. I don't think the slight possibility of death should be a deterrant to doing something you really love, and this guy loved cars. The real tragedy is when people die crossing the street.
Agreed. What better way to actually live life than pursue one's passions and dreams, online as well as offline. People take their lives into their own hands every day going to their 9-to-5 (6-to-midnight, in reality) jobs. I'd rather go out doing something I love, too, though I hope my end isn't at a keyboard but rather doing something active.
He died young. But does anyone here ever think? All of us will meet the same fate one day. There is no guarantee that any one of us will make it the next hour. The Angel of Death does not care who you are. You could be a king or a queen. It doesn't matter one bit.
His death is a lesson for all of us. A reminder that we are all mortals.
He was one of the rare breed that started with very little & made very much - as in -$40 million Dollars, in 10 years.
I had a folder which I kept most of those e-mails in -
last one (2 june) says about him being up til 4.30am in the morning knocking back coffee - dedcicated to his work til the end.
Very Sad.
