Gonna show up in New Orleans

Anyone else planning on attending?

It's not that far a drive for me. And, 800 bucks at door is nothing compared to what I've learned, and profited from, on this site.

I'm bringing sweaters/jackets too, to deal with the AC if it's a problem.

Looks like there may be a storm heading for New Orleans this weekend - hopefully it won't be too bad:

Heading in Monday & out on Sat, can't wait! As for the % of small companies or independents, it used to be almost all small companies a couple years ago. More larger companies in Vegas and I'd guess it'll be close to a 50/50 split this time around.

It's really a great mix & a cool environment.

Those of you who work in your underwear all day should get dressed up a bit!

Yes, I don't think I could wear my regular daily attire, a bath robe.

I'm staying over until Saturday too, gonna hit Bourbon Street on Friday night.

We smokers will probably meet each other often. :)

I'll be wearing slacks and skirts, but bringing jeans and shorts for the down times.

From the looks of the Gulf we might have a hurricane for all you northerners to experience a hurricane party first hand. ;)

They are fun! Been to quite a few myself. Once the party really gets going, you won't even care if the roof blows off.

It'll be over by the time we go, and, they never get it right when they predict too soon where it will hit.

Just rent a car and get the insurance if you're worried about it.

Assuming they arrive a week early ...

Looks like Arlene is expected to make landfall sometime this weekend...

Still a good excuse for a hurricane-after party :)

Drinking hurricanes in 'nawlins during a hurricane? Sounds like a blast. :)

Best city in the states for having fun IMO, except maybe NYC. Looking forward to it. This will only be my second, but I'm still having fun related to the first. :-)

Plus, if you can't learn anything at one of these, you're not help-able.

I'm looking forward to my first WebmasterWorld conference! I'll be meeting a lot of you smokers as well!

I'm planning on bringing shorts, t-shirts, sandles, and plenty of business cards :) (Probably bring some warm stuff too incase the a/c is on "freeze" instead of cool)

I just got off the phone with the hotel and the charge for the high speed internet connection is $10. The guy on the phone didn't know if that was for the entire stay or for each night.

They charge extra for it? What kind of nonsense is that!

Wonder what they are gonna charge me for parking. I emailed and got no reply

Yes, that is noon-to-noon per day. That is the going price everywhere around the states.

And $15.00 a day to park. So that is an extra $25.00 a day. Good thing I had a coupon for the conference!

I just called the hotel. It's $28.00 a day for their valet parking, $14.00 a day to park at a nearby parking garage.

I was trying to rent a car, one way there, and one way back. Well, Budget, across from the hotel, will let us take a car there, but we can't take a car back. So we gotta rent a car for the entire week if we want to come back home.

We might just hitch a ride back. I hope someone has room in their car and will be passing through Tallahassee on their way home!

P.S. We're wanting to head back Saturday about noon, check-out time. 2 skinny people. I don't mind sitting on someone's lap.

Paying someone extra to park for me I wouldn't even consider. They didn't tell me the lot was nearby. I assumed it was right there. Hmmmm

I'm suprised they even have vallet parking in New Orleans. There are so many lots and garages all over the French Quarter. Parking shouldn't be a problem at all for you guys.

LOL. I was justing kidding. I've got a car rented for the week, only $147.00 for the rental.

They told me if I get the full coverage insurance, I can leave it on the street when I get there, keys inside, let it get stolen, and they will replace it when I'm ready to leave. ;-) No parking fees.

Do guys flying to new orleans and staying in park plaza need a rental car?

It's not really a car kind of town. You can take the Canal St streetcar right in front of the hotel into the french quarter. Once there everything is pretty close.

It's an easy walking city.

Does that street car go down to Harrahs too?

I was there 5 years ago. I believe it goes all the way down. Best part of the ride;-)
