Suggestion: More specific post information when viewing a profile

Finding someones recent posts gets tough in long threads

I and I am sure others follow some members posts with more attention than others.
WebWork, EFV, Brett, GoogleGuy etc..

To do this I view the profile of the person then check the threads where they posted. The problem is in long threads its hard to find their posts.

My suggestion is maybe listing the post numbers where their post appears or even better a direct link.

or even more crazy a GoogleGuy RSS feed ;-)

Yeah, that post number thing would be very helpful. Don't know how that would work if previous posts got deleted and post numbers changed.

this probably isn't that helpful but ...
in Opera and FF - Edit > Find (in page), then ctrl G through the pages.

It would be a nightmare for mods to maintain actual post numbers since posts get deleted and rearranged from time to time.

hmmm... if Brett worked a unique stamp into each post and encoded HTML anchors it could work.

Something along the lines of:

20050525-130159-207.123.123.1-9999-8765

for May 25, 2005, 1:01:59pm, IP 207.123.123.1, Forum #9999, thread # 8765

Then embed <a name="20050525-130159-207.123.123.1-9999-7890"></A> anchors in forum / thread pages...

The anchor is already there, just need the workaround in the profile.

You can add #msgNN to any message. NN is the post number.

The message number thing is something I've wanted a lot too. In fact, I'd like to see a longer history of a user's posts that would take me to his or her individual posts, rather than simply to a thread.
