Would a new forum be useful

Hi,

I've posted one or two copmments here before, however I thought of something that doesn't appear to be covered in the plethora of great forums here on Webmaster World - undertaking, managing and supporting online marketing through the use of enticements - prizes or freebies.

As this is becoming a specialised and established field, would it be of benefit to have a specific forum on it?

I hope very much that no one says "But we do, haven't you looked at..." - I think I looked carefully for this!

Ideas, anyone?

Cheers, jon

That may be beneficial, but promotions are usually structured according to how your company works. My profit margin may be much higher than yours and my promotions would be way more than you might be able to sustain.

I don't know that there really is that much demand for this. Disucssions about business promotions and such would probably fit into "Professional Webmaster Business Issues".

I was actually thinking more along the functional / technical aspects - not the marketing ideas behind them.

I personally have run Internet propmotions and found there is a lot to learn (mainly about avoiding 'cheats' and bulk submissions).

But, if there's no general call, I can understand!

Thanks for the response.

Great idea - I wished we would talk on this subject more! I have problems with my forms as it is. If you happen to find out any tips on running web contests and the technical aspects behind it let me know. I am sure it would work a lot like the forms generated from the lead companies and following the same guidelines they use.

Great topic actually.

What we try to do on new forums, is to create new forums based on need. We feel we need atleast 25 existing threads and over 500 messages on a subject to start a new forum.

If we don't have that level of interest in a forum, we end up with an empty subforum.

So, the issue becomes that if you want a forum topic, then help create it first. Do some care and feeding of those topics on that subject that already exist.
