Most people on his forum don't appear to share their urls via the "member info" (I know it can't go in a signature etc.

Wondering why that is? I can see new and experienced webmasters gaining a lot simply by looking at other sites. Of course there is always the potential to try to intentionally disable an adsense account of someone who has offended you (but of course we all agree that adsense is too clever for that and that has never happened)

Anyone care to shed any light on why they don't have their url in their member info?

Liability such as someone going after you because they don't like something you said, because you're a competitor, or for whatever reason they think justifies their actions (sadly, there are lots of crazy people out there).

If one believes there are far more decent, helpful, benevolent, ordinary folks 'out there' than there are crazy people then one has to conclude that the benefits tend to outweigh the risks by a large margin.

Of course, who's to say that I'm not the crazy one and that I'm actually intent on setting a trap for the unwary by putting up my identity.

Oooooooooo . . scary . . . ;-P

<Terrorists need to be lucky once>

Thats the advice that almost changed my mind on this.
I was about to remove my url, at least for now, but then i re-read all the posts and then saw this in the help pages.
<Profile referrals are a powerful means of promotion...>

It really is a tough call when you have some of the most respected members expressing opposite opinions, but it does make a very interesting thread.

Some people built bomb shelters in the 1960s.

Others stockpiled food and ammo in advance of Y2K.

Some people hide their URLs in 2005.

If there's not enough love in this world how am I - or you - to respond to that?

>>My point is that upon review of the various posts and posters slamming people who got kicked out of adsense because legit sites will never get kicked out, most of the time, their site is not listed in their profile. Hence my conclusion that their actions do not equal their words.

Using your flawed review on any post will most likely produce the same results because probably an overwhelming majority of members do not have URLs listed in their profiles.

And the ones who talk smack & list their competitors' URLs don't count. ;)

Webwork, Macy's didn't tell Gimbels back in the 1960's and they still wouldn't if Gimbel's were still around. If they had, it could be Gimbel's still around and Macy's gone.
