What about a thread where members can post client leads?

Specifically for work that they cannot or do not handle

It could be done, but there would be problems right?

What would the problems be?

Could those problems be handled? How?

To reign in spam, abuse, etc. should such a thread only exist in the supporter's forum, also serving as an 'added benefit'?

What would happen if such a thread was created?

Would I get bombed with private messages? So, should such posts be anonymous as to their source? (Source only visible to mods/admins?) That would kill off the PM bombing.

What about the interested party? Should the thread TOS require that on the specs for the work be posted, not potential client's contact info?

If the thread was a supporter only 'benefit' - i.e., only supporters you view or respond - would reducing the pool of candidates diminish the effectiveness. (Okay, I hear the resounding yes, but that alone isn't decisive.)

If the thread only existed in the supporter's realm (for whatever reason) how would the intended beneficiary ever get notified? Would the 'anonymous lead poster' then have to take on the job of forwarding the replies to the person seeking help?

What about a system that allows members to post such leads and allows the interested party to view any replies 'for a small admission fee'? Refundable if no one replies?

I see some value in creating a system that would allow leads to be posted, but I can also see headaches associated with them. Has the ever been tried? Has the model been fully explored or discussed in the past?

Is this DOA or is money being left on the table that could be picked up for a not unreasonable effort?

Just send everyone off to RentAWidgeter?

Thus, as his thread plunged headlong to an abrupt death, the error of his ways were once again revealed.

Well, even when we allowed open and unfettered posting in the commercial exchange forum, few people to advantage of it.
