I'm not sure if this is a WebmasterWorld problem, my service provider's problem or what but, I haven't received any alerts (except for one) since around 5AM EST.

I'm signed up for around 10 diff forums here and I can see new posts have been made to most of those. I'm stumped.

However, I can sticky myself and receive the notification.

I changed my email address in my profile but that has not helped - even changed it to a yahoo account. This isn't just a WebmasterWorld problem as I'm also not getting mail sent to several other of my email addys as well.

Have run ad-aware and spybot. Have rebooted. My service provider, RR, is no help. Since I do get one email out of 15-20 they think it is either a latency issue or something on my system.

Any ideas what I can try next to discover the problem?

I think there was a problem with the system at one point which required BT to reset the email notifications. Go check one of the threads you believe you're signed up for and see if you are, in fact, still signed up for email notifications. If not, sign up again and see if it works.

Thanks lorax.

yep, still signed up and still not receiving any notifications - even to this thread which I checked for notification of replies.

I unsubbed for community center and resubbed again to see if that makes a difference.

Any other ideas?

Well, I'm getting email notifications again. Appears all the forums for which I signed up for alerts (that have had new posts since 3PM) are now sending notifications, but nothing came for any posts between around 5 this morning until around 3:40PM (except the one I mentioned earlier) have come through.

I'm also now getting emails for other accounts, unrelated to WebmasterWorld, so I think it was probably something screwed up at RR. They were no help when I called but perhaps my urgent emails to their spam and security dept's were successful.

Think they'll own up to it?

Sheesh, you all are spoiled. I haven't received email notification of thread updates in *years*. I don't why I keep checking the "Do you want notification?" box. Blind faith/hope I guess....

Any emails that bounce repeatedly, or kick back autoresponders are shut off. Additionally, all major free emails systems like gmail, hotmail, and yahoo automatically put forum emails (not just here) into the deleted email folder or spam folder.

Teknorat - you are on gmail - hence you can't get any. MBJay - the system shut you off because of bounces and/or autoresponders.
Nancyb yours should be ok.

Teknorat - you are on gmail

Go into your spam-mail folder, select a WebmasterWorld email and click on "This is not SPAM".

That fixed it for me. It seems that gmail maintains a local user-level SPAM filter/safe email filter of some kind.

If you are on Gmail, you can also change your listed address here to
yourgmailname+WebmasterWorld@gmail.com
and then create a filter to catch emails to that address and label them appropriately: Gmail allows you to add arbitrary data after a plus sign and still get the email.
