Does anybody know when and where the next PubCon is? I missed the one in Las Vegas:( I heard the content was great. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but figured that someone here could answer it ;)

New Orleans sometime between April 15 and May 31/05.

Las Vegas about the same time again in 2005. If Fall Comdex is on again next year, Pub Con will be at one of the hotel in Vegas.

I've been told that the convention center is taking reservations for the "comdex" week in Nov and does not expect comdex to ever be back.

Date has not been set for the next one.

It's kind of discouraging to not hear/see Boston on the list of upcoming locations. Was it a hard setup last time?

mattglet, I think the reason against Boston is mainly that people from across the world try to go to WebmasterWorld conferences. For people from Asia or the westcoast cities like Vegas are easier to access and even New Orleans is nearer then the east coast. For people coming from Europe/Africa it would be much easier flying to Boston then to Vegas or New Orleans, but we still make it as most places on the globes are worth flying to, just to attend the conference.

I'm not sure I see your point with that statement :)

Boston is definitely not out of the question for future conferences. But at this point, the majority of folks have showed an overwhelming interest in New Orleans and Vegas.

Remember that Brett has said we take one conference at at time and nothing is set in stone. We had a great time in Boston in the Spring of 2003 and you never know what the future will hold!

How about the SF Bay Area - there could be organized bus tours of search engines plus there is a nice convention center across the street from my office.

At the Las Vegas Conference, Brett took an informal vote among the attendees at one of the super sessions. San Francisco was offered and got some support, but New Orleans clearly was preferred by the group.

I suppose, among other things, SF is harder to get to from Europe, and is very expensive.

While past attendees are likely to attend future events, you also have to consider people who didn't go. Perhaps, the location was a major detriment.

While SF might be slightly longer to get to from Europe, I don't think it harder than New Orleans. Plus, it is much easier to get to SF from Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Foster City, Berkeley, Emeryville, San Francisco and even Pasadena.

Too bad Comdex is now likely to be history. Fall Comdex used to be quite an event. That is progress I guess. It would have been nice to hit both Pub Con and Comdex on the same trip.

I'll be looking forward to the New Orleans conference. It'll be the first I've been to since the London conference.

I suppose, among other things, SF is harder to get to from Europe, and is very expensive.

Nearly all flights to Vegas from europe were connecting via SFO or LAX - a direct connection to vegas was not available from germany.

I don't know why noone named any canadian city as a possible Pubcon-place? There are always many canadian participants attending pubcon. Travelling there doesn't involve such strict security checks (finger prints, etc.) that nearly became an issue to cancel the vegas-trip for me.

I didn't like Vegas too much as a place for the PubCon as everything was simply way too big so that I'm quite excited to see New Orleans :)
