The Hilton is sold out for several nights of the conference.

You can try some of the other nearby hotels, but they are also filling up fast:

The Stardust is still showing availability at $49 every night that week at a reseller site where I made my booking for the preceding Friday-Sunday.

(Sorry, not staying on for PubCon).

I know more than a few people staying at the Riv.

I'm sure it's just normal rooms. They always keep rooms open for high rollers. Hotels in Vegas never sell out. They have to keep their whales happy. Each one has their over $10K a night rooms.

That's simply amazing. A hotel with 7 bars and an ungodly number of rooms and it's primarily booked by PubCon attendees?

I tried last night on the off chance there was a room - the night of the 16th was gone, and I didn't want to have to change hotels (or end up homeless for a night) so I ended up across the street at one of the Marriott properties - at least it comes with hi-speed access :)

I'm looking forward to my first Pubcon. I have been kicking myself for not making it to Orlando...

Is the PubCon a part of the conference, separate from the Search Conference, or is it the conference? Sorry, but the price tag is a bit high for someone who quit his job to do the web thing right when the sandbox went into effect. My mom and brother live in Vegas so I'm planning on being there during the time, just not being able to attend the search conference.

Yea, I booked at the riv a while back and know a lot of people staying there. Decent hotel. Though, I believe I heard there was a problem with getting a room Thursday night there (while anything before was fine).

powdork - there's a lot more going on with the NFR etc. than what's starting 12/3. In fact the bull riding just got finished (bummer, Adriano didn't win this year), and I know of various folks who move in there a couple of weeks ahead of the actual competitions.

This is really a busy time of year in Vegas.... didn't used to be that way.... When I was growing up there, they couldn't get people in there between Hallowe'en and Christmas, then had everyone in the world land on them for New Year's....

My bad vkaryl. For all you folks looking for something to do in Vegas besides gamble, you should check out the rodeo. I never considered myself to be a fan but the Reno rodeos are big big fun.

I'm still wondering

Is the PubCon a part of the conference, separate from the Search Conference, or is it the conference?

The Search Conference is the Pub Con - just a name change this year.

Any brits heading out on the 12.30 BA flight on Monday?

nakulgoya, it's kind of late to start looking for a hotel. You only have a week before the conference starts. I don't know what is available now. The Hilton is the closest hotel. If you don't have the use of a car, it is best to stay close to the convention centre or along the Strip. If you are on the Strip, you can take the monorail to the convention centre.

For a starter, you can check out these websites:

If the hotel shows nothing available anywhere online, call the hotel directly, sometimes you can get rooms that way.

The monorail is still down. Find out who else is nearby and split a cab. Im at Paris/Ballys and know at least a dozen others who will be there. Shouldnt be too hard to find a few staying at just about any hotel on the Strip.

that's where I am going to stay after all, just booked it...let's see if it really deserves "4 stars" great tip, ogletree, thanks!

Hilton right now is at around $120/day or so but $440 on wednesday which bumbs up the total which I didn't want to pay... I can also recommend the Tuscany Suites with huge (700sqft) new rooms + internet for $70/night right now but of course they are not as exciting as the casinos ;)

What is the deal about Wednesday. All of them seem to be very expensive on Wednesday.

The hilton may have some room. You can still try via Hotels.com and Expedia for all but Thursday night right now.

Last night, I booked a 4-night hotel+ air package at Travelocity. I'm traveling from Miami, FL. The total was $570. Not too bad for last minute.

A word of advice about Las Vegas hotel rooms--Check in early. If you don't like the room you got, ask for another one. The hotels are usually accommodating.

BTW, this is my first post. I'm really excited to attend PubCon :)

nakulgoyal just look at any of the bars at the Hilton for guys drinking with their laptops open...pretty good indicator.
