I am suggesting that there should be a feature in the control panel, where we could choose to have email notifications of replies to all threads that we have participated in. I know that we can set it for individual threads, but not all of them at once.

I have to wonder if there wouldn't be a danger of this appearing to be spam.
Imagine if you posted to half a dozen threads a day (probably not too far off average for many members; way below average for others). Average threads seem to peter out at about...what?...5 to 10 posts? So that would be somewhere around 30 - 60 emails being sent to you on just that day's posts. Add up several days (and who knows how many members) and WebmasterWorld could be pumping out literally tens of thousands of emails an hour, with huge chunks going to single accounts ... I'm wondering if it would end up getting WebmasterWorld blocked or banned or whatever by Westhost (or otherwise penalized by the e-world at large).*
You probably already know about this (so please don't be insulted that I mention it), but one good way to keep 'up-to-date' with threads you're involved in is the "My Threads" link in the control panel. I keep it open throughout the day and periodically duck in, hit refresh and see which one's have been added to.
* The math in this post is noticeably wrong, but you can see what I'm getting at. :)
