It can't be that expensive or extensive of a forum modification to implement search capability for the supporter’s forum. Anything on the drawing board for this? It might eliminate some of the duplicate questions back here. (probably like this one)

I agree. I posted the same question a while back, but no positive answer.

I think the value of this forum would increase tenfold with a good search capability.

I even offer to pay an extra $5 to help fund it! :-)

I'd be willing to chip in more for a good search feature here, too.

Thanks, per the charter there, we do all threads "about webmasterworld" like that out here.

> extensive or expensive

Nope - about 15 maybe 30mins programming time.

Did you see another major forum last month that suffered a security error? Did you see where that security error was at? Yep, in it's site search. It was easy to read all the private forum msgs going over there.

That is why we don't do one here. I know I know - it would be easier, but in the long run, this way encourages more participation.

Lets see, a Google Search Appliance is around $30,000. That would mean, we only need 6000 total members to donate $5 each ;)

And remember, if you see a thread that catches your attention, bookmark it or flag it. That will help you keep track of it down the line.

Flagging is great! Better than bookmarking, because you can get a list of ALL your flagged threads, all on one page, which should help keep track of them AND your interests over time.

My bookmarks always get lost in the thousands of others, which I make a stab at organizing as my New Year's Resolution each January. Which of course never gets beyond the first folder....

You have folders!?

My New Year's resolution is to put my existing bookmarks in folders one day.

*laughing* Oh yes, Macro, I have folders.... thing is, the bookmarks never get moved into them! Lessee, I have.... counting.... 60 folders - some of them are "top level" and have other folders under them - but in any case, if they don't have the bookmarks in them (so they can logically be access, y'know!), all they are is just "placeholders"....

Maybe next New Year's....

You have folders!?

You guys really need to either use Opera, or Firefox with the "Add Bookmark Here" extension. You can then add a bookmark directly into the correct folder from the start - no re-classification required!
