hey, not to get too nosey but I am looking to install a discussion board like this in a password protected area so that I can use it to help me manage my own little empire...

for example, I need something so that my designer, programmer and I can discuss a given project, etc. As a temporary fix we installed a free script which actually works very well except there is no email notification... which really wasted lots of time... so I tried to find the pay version... that one didn't have email notification either... so I had my programmer look at it to see if he could rig it... he said the way they did it was screwed up and it would be cheaper just to buy a better one.

So I was going to just do UBB because I am familiar with using it... then I saw this bad boy and really liked how everyone in the thread could get email notification. So I have been assuming that BT just whipped it up from scratch, but thought I would ask before I wasted my time looking for something else.

...not looking for any crazy extra projects... just idiotproof, cheap, and proven would be fine:) Any ideas?

Hey db, you have an eye for quality.... this is the best forum code out there. There's a history thread on it, somewhere but -in short- it started as another package back in April or May and BT has rewritten and rewritten and rewritten, much of it at the suggestion of the moderators. I doubt if there is an original module left in the app, but it's still very much a work in progress.

The closest thing to it is [vbulletin.com]

It started out last spring as BB Talker. There is about 5-10% of that code left and I am getting ready to remove that last bits and pieces.

There is something that has popped up that is similar. (too similar to be an accident). Check your Stickymail...

Have you tried ikonboard [ikonboard.com] not sure if the new version has email notification or not, if not I am sure someone would have made a mod.
