Results pages should be ordered by RECENCY

Can site search be structured to give the user the option of ordering the results pages by RECENCY and/or additional criteria.

Specifically, if I was searching for topics about "anchor text" I could select the option of seeing the results returned in the order of the MOST RECENT (latest) posts followed by older posts?

So I am reading the latest "insights" about anchor text first. The way site search works at present is that I get posts from random dates which often contain information or speculation that has become outdated or even discarded. To find the newer insights and understandings I have to drill deeply into the results pages.

BTW - while on this topic-- what's the deal with words that are ignored by the site search tool.. like for example, the phrase "site search"? Try a search on these two words and you get 0 results! Both these words are ignored.

In essence, that means if anyone else ever addressed the issue I am raising in this topic I cannot find those posts and replies!

In fact, this very post may become invisible soon too.

Is anyone out there listening? I'm feeling soooooo alone....

Seriously, there are many words the site search tool ignores. Why was it set up that way and can this be revisited and possibly changed?

I guess 'site' and 'search' are quite common words here, so there is a good readon to ignore them. It should however be possible to search for the fixed combination...

I never use site search anymore. Try G, with queries like this:
[google.com...]
