Forum Moderators: open
I love ebay, but about the only thing it has to do with being a webmaster (as far as I see it) is smart ways of getting links to your dotcom shop without offending the powers at be (ie. without being struck off). That and writing html I suppose. (PayPal is another thing altogether.)

[edit reason] no specifics, please [/edit]
Eebay is quite interesting. Not only the fact that it is such a wildly successful dotcom but also that it is like it's own self contained economy with millions of buyers and sellers.

And two other metrics I won't talk about in public...
Where I am there are whole categories that are access blocked by the it with ISPs ..not just nazi stuff either loads more ..
also prices for placing ads in categories vary so much too ...some things that will cost you a dollar in the USA to place can cost me upto 25$...
I hear all the reasons for ..but it would be like if google charged adwords depending on where you lived and also decided what you could run campaigns on or which pages you could see ( yeah I know Isp's do that anyway but you know what I mean ..I hope! ) ...I don't see how we could compare experiences if the base experience isn't the same ..
<other metrics ..subtle>
<I always tell my kid .."I think you're ready ..I'll ask you..you say you're ready ..you probably aint"..>
WHY IS THERE AN ENTIRE FORUM DEDICATED TO FROOGLE?
Aside from WW's fascination with anything google (I totally understand), I see no reason to have an entire forum dedication to froogle, which has proven to result is sparse, if any sales. On the other hand, here is ebay, an entirely web-based site, and i havent seen a product yet to sell here!
just my $.02
