Can't get it to work

Noticed from previous discussions a number of members could not get it to run.. well.. neither can I and it's been recommended by WebUser magazine so no doubt there are lots of others out there also trying.
Same problem. Keeps telling me to sign on then responds by advising my ISP has been causing abuse!

Change ISP?

That's not very helpful!
The ISP is a major British company and very reliable.
Going from many previous discussions in this forum it's the programme that's causing the bother, not the ISP.

It may not be helpful, but it's practical. It's easy to pick up a new account.
Someone from that block must have caused problems for Brett to have blocked the IP.

engine, I think it's part of a problem with the site depending on where you access from.

I get this when I access some pages from my favourites, but not if I access it by navigating within the site.

I also quite often get the sign-up page to register when accessing from external search results even when I am logged in.

There are so many people that like to abuse the system and I know Brett likes to keep things fluid. ;)
Soryy for the inconvenience.

I haven't been able to access Sim Spider for months. I have changed ISPs, but the result is the same. Logging out of WebmasterWorld, logging back in, using different browsers, clearing the cache/cookies doesn't help.

Any other ideas?

Nancyb, do you have access to a proxy server in another location?

I run a free Perl script called cgiproxy on one of my sites when I need to view ads from a US viewpoint.

Have you tried using someone else's PC?

Thanks, anallawalla - been busy and just came back to see your response.

I haven't tried from another machine, but I'll try that later tonight or tomorrow. If SimSpider works for me on another machine, what do you think the problem on my machine might be?

Just tried in on a friend's very old win98 machine and it worked fine. She doesn't have a firewall or anti virus (I'm pushing her in that direction as fast as I can :) ) so I disabled my norton firewall and anti virus, logged out, logged in to WebmasterWorld and reset cookies, logged back in again and still I get the dreaded ".. your ISP.. " message.

We use the same ISP. Any other ideas, I really need SimSpider to work on my machine, really, really. Please hellllllp

Offical word on Sim Spider from Brett:

"It's in the shop."

In other words, it's not currently functional. If/when the status changes, we'll let you know.

Thanks for letting me know Hawkgirl. I did find an alternative until Brett has time to make the fix.
