...even the Internet blue chips have been obliterated. The most notable example is Priceline.com. As one analyst said, investors are "naming their price" for this stock.

Thanks georged. I have been fretting over this for 24 hours, afraid to reveal my complete lack of understanding of this strange island race and their enigmatic cultural endeavours. But I am proud to have supplied a quote of the week. Didn't think it would be that easy. I owe you.

To set this in context, an article/almost editorial about Michael Dell "with a call to the EU Nations to embrace technology or risk falling behind the curve." The writer "Jack of Hearts" is particularly impressed with Dell or his motives for the statement, claiming Dell is more concerned with dropping PC sales in Europe.

"Personally, I hope the PC sales thing is actually a sign of the times and that far from being a sign that Europe isn't taking to technology in quite the way that Dell would like, that we are actually rejecting the out of date beasts in favour of far more suitable access devices that cost a stink, run like dogs and require astrophysics degrees to operate them."

Dell should keep out of it, thanks [it-analysis.com]

IBM Monday unveiled the p680 Unix server, code-named Turbo (referred to previously as the S85), which is an update of the S80 system, code-named Condor, that is part of the RS/6000 product line. The RS/6000 will henceforth will be known as the pSeries line for the purposes of new product releases as a result of the company's "Mach 1" campaign that consolidated IBM servers under a new label, eServers.

>The only way to make a small fortune on the internet is to start off with a big one.

How true!. How very true!

Received a communiqué this morning from a contact, informing me that his company is filing for bankruptcy today, having spent 10 MUSD to create a pan-European e-commerce site. Further funding dried up in the wake of recent developments at NASDAQ.
