Hello all!
First time posting here on the forum, just found out about it about 2 weeks ago(can't believe I've been missing out). My name is Mike(obviously), I've been a "net nerd" for about 7 years, started off doing bulk e-mail(yeah, I know spamming sucks, but hey, could you blame me for making 5k a week?). I did that for about 2 years, in the process learning to program in visual basic, from there I moved onto web development, and have been in this business for about 5 years.

My main area of expertise is PHP/mySQL programming, also have a few years of experience in marketing(I ran an adult affiliate program for 2 years.) Currently, I work for a tutoring company named Bell-Curves, developing a full web solution, where students take courses/tests online).. On the side, I am creating a full-blown affiliate management system, which in some ways, could be the best affiliate software to date.

But anyway, enough blabbering about me, I figured to start things off on the right foot, I'd create some chaos for the board moderators :) I was just wondering why signatures are not permitted on this board? Signatures can help boards in many ways(if moderated properly)...People would be more inclined to post MUCH more, and it would also attract more people to post their opinion/knowledge. Alot of people might think that signatures bring alot of useless posts, but in reality, people that post to promote signatures are looked down on, and generally can be caught onto very easily...

Discuss....

I usually don't check out other forums since the people on this one are really good, but I did last week, call them brand x, huge, many posters, the interface is totally cluttered, avatars, signatures, advertising, could barely focus on the posts. Not to mention that I soon found posts referencing WebmasterWorld posts for the answer...

I like webmaster world because it focuses on the questions, and doesn't waste their or your bandwidth with non relevant information. I like seeing only gray fields with text, nothing extra to read, what is there is what you are looking for.

well seeing as this has to be the number one bb for web pros in the world, then i guess the admins and owner have a pretty good idea what they are doing with the rules, part of the point here is that we are all pro's and we want a break from people constantly trying to push their products which may or may not be much good.

welcome to WebmasterWorld btw

This is an interactive board. Most members are marketers. Self-promotion is a no no. The place to network and promote is PubCon [webmasterworld.com].

Otherwise, be mindful of the TOS [webmasterworld.com] and the charter of each individual forum (found at the top left of the page).

Have fun and welcome to WW. :)

I see the reasoning behind no sigs now, thanks for clearing it up.
