Login page or 404 page?

Is there any way to get around the login screen that comes up when I try to click on some ww urls? I enter my login info and it never makes the login screen go away. I am a subscriber and this is really annoying when trying to do research on a topic.

if you are already logged in and get that the thread in question is most likely gone
