Hi all, been looking at this site for a couple of days now and finally took the dive :)
In all honesty this forum is one of the most down to earth, honest forums I have encountered. I look forward to collaborating with many of you and am sure I'm gonna learn ALOT here!
A little about me, I own a web hosting company (only about 3 months old) and am convinced the best source of driving traffic to your site is with SEO (which I am a complete newbie of btw LOL). Anyways time to scour this site :)

Best
Gabriel

I will first give you an example:

There are two chalk boards on two different planes. 1 has the word "a", and the other has the word "lot". There is _that_ much of a space between them.

Now that my OCD/pet peeves are delt with.. Welcome aboard :D

I must be dumb because I have no idea what you just said.

To my understanding he was demonstrating the fact that ALOT is not one word, but two.

Gabes, welcome to WW. Good luck with your new Web Host company. Dig deep into the WW information pit, your bound to find all the answers you'll ever need.

<<_that_ much of a space between them>>

If one has decided to be pedantic in relation to language it behoves one to be in possession of the required level of literacy....

In delimiting "space" to a singular... by use of "that" one does not add "of a" because in so doing one forces into redundancy "that" ....

either one writes ..

"that much space" ...

or

"this much space"

...It may be permissable in certain circumstances to use "this much of a" ...however it is inelegant ...and would result in removal of points in an "English" language examination.

Stones and glass houses should have as much "space" as possible placed between them .......

To avoid the insertive effects of "perceived foolishness" ..( which has the peculiar property of being able to insert itself in an amount inversely proportional to the distance between the glass houses and the stones hereto forementioned )....

HI ..GabeS .. in non "Rumsspeak" :))

Welcome to the board :) 'Recent posts' and the libraries in every forum are the best places to start.

Have fun
