Message Too Old, No Replies

Did I just get promoted?

And why does Google index member profiles?

Hi,

I was surprised to see that I'm a "preferred member" now. Seems there be a status change once you exceed 300 posts? What are my "career opportunities" from here? :-)

I wasn't sure what my last status was, so I tried to look at a chached page from Google typing "pmkpmk site:webmasterworld.com". There seem to be NO cached pages for WW (at least for my querystring), but the very first link brought me to my user profile. I'm not sure whether I like it or not - after all the user profile is only one mouseclick away from any given post. Well, it probably is not important at all. Or is there a purpose behind it?

P.S. The last status was "Full member", and even though Google doesn't seem to cache WW, it was mentioned in the two-line-description :-)

No cache is correct, due to the nature of the board and the chance that people could post something unsavoury, it could theoretically be accessed long after the post was deleted or modified via Google and get the site into trouble.

There are countless posts about how your status increases, just need to look through the Community Center.

Spam? ;)

Oh my.... I just switched off an email address which has been in use since 1993. This resulted in a dramatic SPAM-decrease in my inbox, but still it's way too much which gets past 3 defense barriers...

I never much cared for the user levels, the "promotion" is just something which caught my eye because the left side of the messages did look a bit different :-)

A suggestion, if I may: what about making the user-level a link to an explanatory page?

Woohoo! I'm a "preferred" member now as well!

Now I just have to figure out by whom over what.

photon, I've just asked the same question [webmasterworld.com]. Who thinks these titles up?

Maybe it means that we have "preferred" to be called something else?

Na, I think it means we have preferred to spent much of our time here instead of with our families, in the fresh air, with our job (mark applicable).
