What's wrong with WebmasterWorld? It was fast loading, till a few weeks back. But now, it's very very "s l o w".

I have cable internet connection and all sites come up in a flash, except WebmasterWorld. I use Opera and it takes about 50/60 seconds even to see any text.

Is it due to the traffic load on WebmasterWorld servers?

for me it's very fast. Does a ping/traceroute show any problems?

No.

Every site loads fast, except WebmasterWorld. It's damn slooow!

Using IE not Opera, but on a mediocre DSL it's super-fast for me.

Personally I don't think it is. I have not experienced any speed slowdown -- it has always loaded instantly.

I spend less time on WebmasterWorld now because of connection problems. On an average, it takes 45 seconds to load a page. When I click on a link, there seems to be no activity for around 30-45 seconds, and then suddenly, the page loads.

Ping and tracert gives a "request timed out" message.

I am using 512kbps DSL line. When I use my old dial-up, the WebmasterWorld page loads pretty quickly. Also, the pages load quickly when I login to WebmasterWorld through a proxy (Proxify.com)

So I am assuming the problem is with my ISP. Am I right?

Have you tried use the refresh button (the F5 key will also work)?
I am saying this, because, in certain situations, I get a similar problem as you -- the page does not load immediately. But after pressing F5 (refresh) the page loads instantly (sometimes I have to refresh it two and three times, but it always ends up loading).

Try it and let me know.

F5 and Shift+F5 don't seem to help.

I tried accessing WebmasterWorld homepage through Opera. For around 52 seconds, the browser displayed "sending request to www.webmasterworld.com..."
After that, I got the "Receiving data.." message and the homepage loaded in little less than 2 seconds.

There seems to be some sort of delay before a request is sent/received from WebmasterWorld.

AHhhh... that seems to be a connection problem related to your ISP provider.

Let me ask you something: are both your dial-up and DSL line being provided by the same ISP firm?

Same here. The 50 second delay is pretty annoying. Suddenly the page loads after this delay.

Google loads within 3/4 seconds. So, I think the problem lies in WebmasterWorld servers and not in the connection type or ISP.

I understand your point, but like vibgyor79 said:

So I guess it might have something to do with your ISP as I don't experience any connection delay problems.

No, the problem most likely lies in the connection (route) between your ISP and the WebmasterWorld servers. In this case, it's most likely the middleman's fault. Your ISP, to help things, can specify a different route to get to WebmasterWorld in their routers, but they probably won't because it's a PITA.

Google is irrelevant. So is IBM, Disney, and jakeloveschickenandwaffles.com. Because your ISP uses a different route to get there.
