Could you please tell me if there is an existing forum, or if there is the possibility of one being created, for the discussion of internal site search engine matters?

eg. We use a Russian-based open-source site search engine on our Australian Portal. While excellent in most aspects, there are usually questions I would love to ask (being relatively new to SEO) that might seem inane to the developers (if they even understand my question at all), they seem to take forever to answer and quite often their answers are in disjointed English that is difficult to grasp their meaning (no disrespect to the developers intended).

It would be good to be able to discuss any concerns/queries with others who have had similar experiences with either the same search engine or any other another and are able to offer possible, if not generic solutions in the interim to help me/others understand the operation and function of site search engines.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

There is no such specific forum here as it is likely to generate many drops to commercial developers.

What you might like to consider is looking in
Webmaster General [webmasterworld.com]

Website Technology Issues [webmasterworld.com]

Or even in this whole section The Search Engine World [webmasterworld.com] for solutions such as Inktomi, or even the 2nd tier engines which offer enterprise search capability.
