Foo threads not in recent posts?

With a very few exceptions

I usually stay on the recent posts page and don't venture much into the forum overviews. So I noticed that Foo threads seem to appear there less then they used to. Exceptions seem to be Gizmo Quiz announcement and Word Game.

The forum index shows that there have been other threads going on. IIRC, Foo threads have been known to be taken away from recent posts when there were new messages appearing all the time, but this looks different.

Has there been a change in the policy in this regard?

Yes - some experimentation in that regard. Stay tuned...

I suppose that's the reason why the active list has been "lost" / reset right now ...?

Ok, I've been tuned now for a few days and I don't like it. Have to make extra clicks every so often to go check if there is something new. :(

Tune a little down, Sinner! :) I think you need a de-fooization.

Or you could open an extra window.

>de-fooization.

Too late, I'm a hopeless case :).

>Or you could open an extra window.

Already have recent post on one tab and supporters on another. This is getting messy. I don't want to have a tab for each forum I check out regularly.

Looks like forum19 is gone from the list, too.

I clearly need de-foo-inization too!

Some of the topics in FOO were often relevant to the daily WW member. especially if - like today I am here to read read read! I love the less serious threads and encourages less sarcasm/messing around in the the other 'active' posts .

I for one would like to see it back in the recent posts lists. But thats me. I also like marmite so who knows?

I just noticed this too - I think it's a great shame.

Brett, if this is because of the recent popular Friday Word Games, I'd rather we just dropped the word games instead, as I do find foo often highlights some interesting/unusual and often web relevant subjects.

I may get used to checking in here instead - but "recent posts" is just so damn handy.

Same here. Ever since the foo posts are not displayed, Foo forum has became stagnant :(

That couldn't be the purpose, eh? Discreetly manipulating members to put more effort in serious business?

Did you know that about 7 out of 10 Foo threads have NOT been on the active list for the last six months?

You mean I have been missing 70% of Foo threads in the last 6 months? Ok, gotta go do some serious catching up. ;)

Seriously, no, I hadn't noticed it was so high a percentage, although I had noticed there were less of them.

What was the trigger that decided (or still decides) which threads make it into recent?

Then whatever or whoever you have deciding what goes in and what doesn't is doing a good job.

So why the change?

Not complaining, but if you have tightened the filter that keeps foo-posts out of recent posts, it might be a good idea to sharpen another policy too: The decisions about which threads should be moved from Foo to other fora.

(Yes, I know: One more burden put on the shoulders of busy moderators.)

Our visitors are 99% here for the Tech, Webmaster, SEO, and SEM topics. At 300+ messages on the active post list, something has to give to help members find messages.

Fair comment - I do understand that.

I guess I can always use the "... put in your own HTML" facility in the control panel to put a link to Foo at the top of the page anyway.

By the way, what's a Wembaster? Sounds like a highly dangerous animal!

Ya, a configurable active list has been near the top of the 'next perks' list for awhile.

Interesting... I'm starting to see threads in other forums not appearing either...

Is it mod selectable on the backend?
