I see other people’s edits but I never see any of my own. Is there some sort of time frame for when “edited by” occurs. I know there is a window for being able to edit so that post does not appear out of context if changed. I thought about running an experiment by logging in with a new user name but that seemed like a waste of effort an more to the point resources. So I thought I would ask here.

Cheers

The edited by comes only if someone posted to the thread before you make your edit.

That gives you a few minutes to correct typos and such. However, if someone replies, then that replier should be aware that you may have changed the message above his. That prevents people from changing the entire context of their message with out anyone realizing it.
