My sent folder is broke

Is this normal

My stickies work OK as far as sending and receiving mail. However, my sent folder has always been empty from day one. Is this a known problem? Have I turned something off somewhere?

at the bottom of the compose form is the option:

"Place a backup copy in outbox folder?"

That checkbox must be checked.

I know it's obvious to tick that box and I was doing that before... honest. But I think then I had expiration not set or something.
