Is anyone arriving at Heathrow around that time?

If so, perhaps we can share a cab.

Thanks :-)

(train sucks after a 12 hr flight, cab's are expensive, but would be nice).

The Tube from Heathrow is slow and painfull, but are you aware of the Heathrow Express - runs on the mainline, 12 pounds LHR to Paddington station...

Then get your A-Z out; walk the 2 blocks to Lancaster Gate (Central Line) and you're at Holborn in no time... :)

Apparently dmorison won't be bringing as much luggage as I will be - walk? Are you nuts? I'll be cabbing it, but I'm getting in a little later, sorry.

On Shak's recommendation, I did the airport transfer thing (I ended up using Krest). Met me right in the arrivals area of the airport, took my luggage (I am female, I don't pack lightly ;) ) and then delivered me and my luggage right into the lobby.

Personally, dragging my luggage onto the tube during rush hour wasn't high on the priority list of my London sightseeing itinerary ;)

>>how long (approx ;)) is the tube transfer from Heathrow to Kings Cross?

I'd leave a good hour for the trip.

But seriously, the fastest way is Heathrow Express to Paddington, taxi Paddington to the Thistle.

And killroy: I'd find out which airport you're landing at. There's more than one, and they're in very different directions from London.

I've taken both. Heathrow Express rocks! beats a cab hands down for speed and comfort.

btw: ogle - I get into same at 10am...hehe see you there...

>> If I take the Gatwick express where do i get off

Go to Victoria station, and get a taxi from there.

Seriously, Brett is right: train + taxi beats taxi, both in terms of time it takes to get to central London and comfort. Ignoe his advice at your peril!

I get my tickets in 3 hours, then I will know. I'd love to meet up withsomebody. How do you meet folks at the airport, print the webmasterworld logo on a large sheet and hold it up?

Any chance of swapping mobile numbers for SMSing?

Can'twait to meet you all.

ScottM and I are meeting at the Gatwick Express Counter. He gets in at nine and I arive at 9:50. My picture is in my profile if you want to know who I am. I will probably have my white cane with me. I don't always need it but I use it at airports. I hate it when people ask me if I forgot my glasses or get annoyed when I ask questions about seeing something.

PS. Hope to see you on the train Brett.

Funny reading this, as I'll be flying into the other direction the same day...

Anyone wants to go for a beer in the Bay Area some time next week? ;)

You can book Gatwick Expree tickets (and the others) online and collect from a machine there. (Google London Gatwick.)

Make sure to avail of the one month return fare.
