Can I change my user name here?

And another newbie type question.

Hi everyone,

Could anyone tell me if there's a way forum users can change their user names?

Also, I've been going through the help pages and can't find any information on the different memberships like "junior member", "senior member etc". Is there a location on here where I could learn about that?

Thanks in advance.

You can change your nic, but you will lose your post count.

The different memberships are just a posting count

Check this [webmasterworld.com] thread on member classification (post #10).

Sinner_G, Thanks for that link, the membership issue is clear now :-)

Tigger, I suppose I'll have to lose my post count.

However, I'm still having problems with finding where to change my user name. I've gone through the control panel with a fine tooth comb.

Is it the case that the only way is by cancelling the existing member name and starting a new one? If so how does one cancel an existing name? Thanks again.

my understanding is just leave the old one and it will drop of the system and sign up again, but I'll get admin to confirm this for you

Yes, you need to register with a new nic.
The old one will eventually fall off the active accounts, however, all posts made under the original nic will remain.
