Don't know what Brett thinks about it, but there is certainly a shorthand of commonly used terms within the forums, amongst regulars.

I'll start.

G = Google
ATW = AllTheWeb
F = Fast
OV = Overture
Y! = Yahoo
T! = Teoma
AJ = Ask Jeeves
Es = Espotting
FW = Findwhat
ROI = Return on Investment

and here's some more courtesy of Brett's list over at SearchEngineWorld > SEO Jargon [webmasterworld.com]

Any suggestions or comments?

choster,

never paid attention to that list before, but this one is good:

AJ = Ask Jeeves
Es = Espotting
FW = Findwhat
ROI = Return on Investment

GG = GoogleGuy

L$ = Looksmart
M$ = Microsoft (agreed)

BF = BeFree
CJ = Commission Junction
DW = Dreamweaver
FP = FrontPage
Ink = Inktomi
NN = Netscape Navigator
PS = Adobe Photoshop
PSP = Jasc Paint Shop Pro

How about we expand to include WebmasterWorld sayings and phrases also?

"That's an interesting view" -> You're talking rubbish, shut up.

"Alternatively, you could....." -> No, really I mean it, shut up.

"Each to his own" -> Okay I give up!

"Industrious webmaster" -> Spammer

"Spammer" -> Someone more successful than you

"Nick_W" -> Silly Arse!

I'm guilty of "IMO"; it saves time writing "I do not state this as fact, please don't sue me if it happens not to be true any more".

LOL = Laughing Out Loud

ROTF(L) = Rolling On The Floor (Laughing)

ROTFLMAO = Rolling On The Floor Laughing My bottom Off

legend has it that a splinter group of AOL users thought LOL was lots of love, and many probably still do, despite AOL efforts to educate their charges

"Spammer" = Someone more successful than you

We must not forget the basics:
"SPAM" = Site Positioned Above Mine
