I think that the moderators are doing a great job keeping this update thing under control...they must be getting tired of locking topics by now.

I vote that we double their pay.

Agreed.

(Though perhaps they can edit the subject of this thread -- 'Poor Moderators' can give the impression that the moderating is poor, which is not the case, nor the intent)

Then triple it.

Granted, "Poor Moderators" may be misconstrued as meaning that the moderating is poor...

But if that is what I meant to say I'd make the title "Poor Moderating".

Hehe, that's what I was thinking before I clicked on the thread. :-)

Thanks Critter, but it's a real team effort. Admins (who can mod across all the forums) put a lot of effort into forum3, also mod's from other forums and quite a few members do a great job alerting us to potential problems, threads needing moving, title changes, etc.

There's a thread on suggestions [webmasterworld.com], by the way.

I was thinking exactly the same, expecting an ODP-submission-whining-type post. I was getting ready to battle in favour of the mods. You rule!

There have been some threads recently about this, but I just want to add a brief comment.

I did a bit of user profile clicking, and there seems to be a great number of members who only ever post in Google News. If there was a (very) separate forum for the problem threads and subjects then this might help. It's becoming impossible to discuss Google without accidentally spawning some kind of frankenstein update thread...

Google makes up most of the searches on the internet, there for we only post there! If Yahoo was more populer, then we would post about Yahoo, if Altavista was....

It looks to me like someone is doing some hard work keepng the thread titles semantically correct up there in forum 3. Just wanted to say great job Mods, we're noticing.
