"Getting reciprocal links can be one of the most powerful site promotion tools at your disposal. They are more important than ever."
You would think this category would be filled with new posts every day from those discussing new linking strategies, how to attain more links, and etc.
Since getting good positioning in most search engines such as Google, relies on backlinks.
Yet it seems to be quite a "neglected" category...
I don't know, I guess I just wish there would be more frequent posting in this category because I stop by quite frequently, and think it's one of the most important categories. :)
There are a lot of linking threads in the Google News forum because the original posters posted them there. A lot of people seem to emphasize, from what can be gathered from their posts, that Google issues and linking issues are inextricably intertwined.

PFOnline if we look around we can see that most search engines aren't getting attention aside from Google because of where most traffic comes from. Maybe Inktomi a little bit, but aside from numerical link pop there's not much to say with Ink with regard to linking.
For Google linking isn't an isolated phenomenon, it's inter-connected with other parts of the algorithm. Even strategizing about how internal and outbound links are done *within* a site can dramatically affect positioning. People just tend to automatically think Google, and aside from how to go about finding and getting the links, it's hard for some people to draw the line between links and the rest of the scoring factors related to Google.
That's how I've got it figured, though there are some fabulous threads in the Link Development forum well worth reading over and over again and it's certainly worthy of more attention. There's information that just can't be found anywhere else, on a very important topic area. There are some threads that are really dynamite.
