CPC and CPM rate/situation in France

Haven't a clue what to do with Click-through

I've just discovered, for renting ad space on a website in France, that it's CPM and not CPC which is the norm there. This news was late in coming because I haven't been able to find any clear online information about it! Nor can I find anything about the rates.

Can anyone give me any pointers towards any reading material or any info on the matter?

Are you looking for the difference between CPC and CPM? Cost Per Click and Cost Per Mill (cost for having your ad shown 1,000 times.)

Ew, my post a little vague, wasn't it? Thanks for answering all the same.

Actually all I would like to have is an indicator of how much webmasters usually charge in France - for both CPM and CPC. I have a pretty good idea of North American rates, and even some about Germany, but not a [expletive] thing about France - just a few very global and vague articles about how "disgruntled" the French banner market is.

Since my first post I've read quite a bit about "click auctions" - and I would love to get one going on my website : ) - but for now I need a flat-rate CPC and CPM charge to forward to potential customers.

All this "rate info" is rather hush-hush on the web - but is all the stealth about keeping info from clients or other webmasters?

If someone would be kind enough to explain, but would like to "hold to the hush", please feel free to sticky me.
