German versus US hosting companies

The recent discussions about dedicated IPs, bad neighbourhoods, etc. made me go out and try to find a dedicated server.

The minimum for a managed server in the US seems to be around $150/m with one IP address, around 80G/1000G and a decent processor on Linux.

I looked around in Germany where something like that costs around 40 Euros.

When I asked my current provider how he explains the difference, he says, the CPanel license (WHM) alone is $50/m and the server is going to be far away.

OK I have to learn a different interface for the CPanel equivalent and have to deal with geo-targetting issues, but does anyone have experience what the real pros/cons are besides those two?
