Hi All

Netscape.fr just launch a new results page with screenshot for all URL. User can choose 3 views with or without screenshot and one more visual like image search.

Results are powered by Exalead, but anybody knows who is providing the thumbnails?
thx

FR_Zone, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

I'm not sure about where the thumbs come from, but [thumbshots.org...] could be the source as it's somehow related to the ODP and ODP is owned by Netscape.

It was my first guess too ;)
But all the url from the netscape.fr index has a thumbnails, not only directory url. And netscape.fr use AOL France directory and not ODP...

Hi all,

The thumbnails come from Exalead.

Hi Guys,

Just to say : I love that. It's a really new way of navigating through the results. You can scan faster the results, you choose and clic without bad surprise.
Two sites say that it's the first time a major portal does thumbnails for each url. Seobook wrote "AOL France Launches Netscape Thumbshot Beta
Thumbshots on a major portal? AOL did it first...on Netscape France..."

Does it mean that competitors are going to follow the same way? As I know, there is nothing like that on Google Labs or on Yahoo! Why?

That's really strange.
Netscape.fr is not a very big audience, that's true. But they say also that they're going to launch it on AOL.fr. What will be the nest step? AOL.com?

If someone has the response...
