what are the guidelines for SEO

hi all,

got a site in viola, the french SE but need to improve its position. What are the know factors concerning this search engine?

A little more info for you, the key word is geo targetted outside of france.

hm, well, despite many sites in France and on voila.fr, my answer is : "good luck!"

Voila is the SE managed by France Telecom - Wanadoo, and frankly, they don't seem to think that relevant results to search queries are a very important factor :(

maybe it would help if the "jurisprudence" from across "la manche" with its recent run in over what it serves up via its filial "free" was applied EU wide ....

I think what Leo meant was that if they start using the technology/partnerships freeserve had , which wanadoo (a.k.a France Telecom) bought a couple of weeks ago here in the UK, they might be better off...

What I meant is that in France and in particular on the Wanadoo engines ( they feed some of the others )..POSITION is PAID FOR ..

Honestly I wouldnt bother optimising for Voila other than to look at buying into their boutique system ...

Anyone ever see any traffic on their sites sent by Wanadoo?
I work with a lot of French companies ..landings from Wanadoo searches to sites that aren't in their boutique system are virtually non existant and conversions to purchase are not worth looking for ..unless you are the F.N.A.C.

Wanadoo referals are picking up slightly now.

Voila's search results (crawler : echo.com) are so bad that I banned them a long time ago, they are just a waste of bandwidth.
