Info about ilse

Anyone have information like User Agent, IP Addresses, Domains preferred for indexing etc. for ilse? Any info is much appreciated.

just tried submitting a .com site, no go :(

on the ilse.com site in upper left corner is "anmelden" thats where you submit, as far as I understand they ONLY index .nl (Holland)

I typed in my domain allright, but a dutch msg alert box popped up saying something in dutch...

Strange.... Look at this search, where #1 is a dot-com in Dutch:
search [ilse.nl]
Lots of dot-coms on the following pages.

Can anyone explain this? Any Dutch around???

Thanks Ulstrup that's good info.

It is strange that it rejects .com but there it is in #1. Don't know what to make of it, maybe it has to find it on it's own(??)

It seems that the text of the side must be dutch.
Otherwise its not indexed.

It has not to do with the domain.

Probably obvious to all Dutch folks, but to continue the info sharing, I found out Ilse indexes within 24 hrs.

Actually, that is not true. The text can be in other languages, but sites in Ilse are by Dutch people and/or for Dutch people. The search engine indexes within the .nl domain, domains such as .org or .com will be reviewed by hand.

I agree with you about Ilse. That was also my impression from testing the engine. I put a brief summary of my findings in the Netherlands discussion [webmasterworld.com]. Ilse will index anything in Dutch regardless of domain, and anything in the .nl-domain regardless of language.

That thing about manual review of dutch pages in other domains was really interesting. I guess it means that they don't have automatic language recognition software. But what a piece of work! Fast Search shows 1.609.423 pages in Dutch outside of the .nl-domain. 522.000 in .com alone. That should keep Ilse's editors quite busy.
