Iīm webmaster of 30 Spanish Sites.

I really donīt know how to submit to the Spanish MSN engine. [search.msn.es...]
From the site it only allows you to submit via LookSmart. But there is no way to submit it for free to the spanish version!?

English version allows you from [submitit.bcentral.com...]
But it says only for sites in English!

From [search.msn.es...] it allways send you to LookSmart just to pay.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Hi condemons, welcome to WebmasterWorld.
Nice to have a Spanish member on board. We're seriously lacking people from Spain, so DO stick around :)

That's a good question you ask and I think the only way in is through Looksmart, I would be a bit scared that they might reject you submission though - due to non-english content.

Have you tried contacting LS on this matter? They might be able to help you. In other countries local MSN's are handled by local people from MSN. It does not look like that's the case in Spain though.

The also the second option; Inktomi inclusion.

Hi!
well I think too that there's no way to submit a site for free in Msn.es.
The guidelines of Msn in spanish could be found here :
[submit.looksmart.co.uk...]

so the over is Inktomi as said by Rumbas.

Condemons, is there another important directories in Spain?

I have this position : (%)
Google___33.3
Yahoo__15.7
Terra.es__10.9
Altavista__9.8
Lycos__5.2
Msn.es__3.2
Ya__2.3
Eresmas.com__2.3
All the web__1.6
Ozu.es__1.0

Thanks,

Laurent

Sure Laurent:

Let me recommend you :

telepolis.com
ozu.es
lycos.es (If you get listed in lycos.es terra will show your url too, this is the best way to get in terra)
biwe.com

Personaly if you get in Dmoz/world/Espaņol/, Yahoo.es (better) or espanol.yahoo.com , Inktomi, Google, Lycos and Ya.com (donīt forget this one!) you will reach all Spanish audience an most of South American Spanish Spoken countries too.

Hope this helps!

Yes It Is thes fastest way. But no the better one. Lycos directory will be the best way because you will get listed in Terra Directory too.

You mentioned: "second option; Inktomi inclusion."
I am looking for more information on this, I compared the two results from Inktomi and MSN.es (on a Spanish search term)and they are totally different, how does MSN use the Inktomi results?
Please help me shed some light in this.

MSN lists the results (if any) from Looksmart first. Then the crawler based back fill result from Inktomi.

If you want to be succesfull with pfi at Ink, you should target 3-4 word phrases. Otherwise you will get buried in the serp by the LS listings.

Rumbas why are you worried? OK, the submit page is on looksmart.co.uk but it's in Spanish? Surely if they offer this paid service then they would fairly review a site in Spanish?

Some directories have been known to grab your cash and (sometimes) reject your submission.

I would make sure that they are able to handle the spanish content before throwing my money at them, but hey that's just me ;)

It seems you're ok though, given that the submission page etc. is in spanish.
